Why the name Urus Basis?
Urus draws its name from the mighty aurochs. The ancient wild ox that embodied raw, untamed strength.
Just like the animal that inspired its name, the Urus trouser is built tough, resilient, and ready for tough conditions.

Urus Basis is a strong, long-lasting pair of trousers, and the choice of materials ensures it will outlive most competitors.
Durability is one of the most effective ways to limit climate impact.
As part of the overall design we have ensured that repairs can be carried out easily and in many cases locally.
When the trousers’ service life comes to an end, we have an after-life plan ready (Next Life solution).

Alignment of expectations:
Watertight if zipped securely and not submerged. Despite the watertight design we recommend not to consider the pockets as waterproof storage.
The pocket lining is partly waterproof meaning that it will not drain.

Fabric
The Taslan polyamide shell fabric is the same proven material we have trusted for more than 25 years.
Combined with our System Fabric membrane, the trousers remain 100% waterproof (HSW <10.000 mm) and breathable.
What does waterproof actually mean?
10.000 mm means the fabric can hold back the pressure of 10 meters of standing water before it leaks. (1500mm is considered waterproof).
In real life it means you can work outside in bad weather all day and stay dry.
How does the shell protect you?
The Urus Basis waterproof fabric consists of three parts:
- Water repellency (DWR)
A chemical treatment that makes water bead up.
We treat the yarn before the fabric is woven.
This creates a strong, long-lasting effect. - Shell. Woven fabric
–a strong Taslan woven polyamide material.
The fabric is laminated with a breathable, waterproof embrane. - Membrane
Keeps rain out while allowing moisture to escape.
The membrane has microscopic pores: small enough to keep raindrops out, but large enough to let moisture escape.
What makes the inside so important?
Inside, the Urus lining captures moisture as vapor and moves it out through the membrane. Mesh panels boost airflow, working like small pumps to stop damp from turning into drops (because the membrane can only move vapor, never liquid).
Put on a sweat-wicking shirt as mentioned above, and what seems complicated suddenly feels effortless.
The trouser takes over - keeping you dry, comfortable.
